Lama temple - Tibetan statues

Are they dalai Lamas (guru in Sanskrit, meaning master), Bainqens (the second largest after the Dalai Lama) or monks, with their yellow hats ?...
In Tibet, Tsong-kha-pa founded the school of "yellow hats" (the righteous) as opposed to red caps (still present in Bhutan) to advocate a greater rigor in the practice of Tantra. The school drew upon itself the favor of politicians stemmed from the Mongol invasion.
