Temple of heaven - Tablets of the ancestors

Now exhibited in the east hall annex, the tablets of the ancestors, like the tablet of the divine spirits, were formerly preserved in the imperial vault of Heaven.
The name of the deceased were inscribed on a funeral tablet at the burial. This tablet represented the soul of the departed during worship to the ancestors (this worship came from filial piety of Confucianism).
