Leshan Buddhist site - Bodhisattva Guanyin

It is called Guanyin in Chinese, Canon in Japanese, or Avalokitesvara in Sanscrit...which means "the lord who is watching".
She has several different representations : either with a flask or with a thousand arms or 11 faces...
His avatar (earthly incarnation of a deity) is a princess about whom we can find several stories. One of these stories mentions a princess who sacrificed his eyes and hands to plead for the healing of his sick father. Shortly after her sacrifice she appeared briefly with a thousand arms and a thousand eyes. Hence one of her representations.
