Manbulsa temple - Basin to "baby buddhas"

These statues symbolize Siddartha Gautama (Buddha Shakyamuni) when he was a child.
People use the "ladle" to pour water on the head and shoulders of a "baby buddha" statue surrounding the cosmic Buddha Vairocana. This ritual commemorates the apparition of 9 dragons heaving water on Siddartha at his birth. Thus one pours water on him to purify his mind and have peace and harmony.
We can notice that there are 7 "baby buddhas", arguably because at his birth Siddartha walked 7 steps in each cardinal point and a flower sprung up after each step. Then, with a finger he pointed Heaven while with another finger he pointed the earth saying he will release all people from their sufferings.
We can also notice the shape of the elephant heads above the basin. The elephant with 6 tusks is a symbol of Buddha.
