Here is the story of the door of reconciliation : at the end of the 15th century, two Lords at war craved for reconciliation but were too wary of each other to achieve it. One of them came up with the ideaa of opening a breech in a door and stretched his hand through the opening : no sooner had he shown his hand than his adversary shook it.
