At his death at age 80, because of a food poisoning, and after lying on the right side, Siddhartha came to Parinirvana : State to dissolve aggregates (not to be confused with a "paradis"). One attained Nirvana (Moksha in Hinduism) when "breaking" the cycle of rebirth by enlightenment : the end of pain. Parinirvana, total Nirvana is reached after having reached Nirvana and at physical death. Siddhartha will then be cremated and his ashes and / or bones are venerated as relics in stupas of temples.
