Gadagne museum - Sacking of Lyon by iconoclasts
Led by the baron of the Adrets, protestants took Lyon in 1562. Iconoclastic acts were commited in several churches (including
St. John's cathedral, St Nizier's church and St Just's church which was destroyed ).
Note that Calvin himself criticized the sacking of the city.
Calvinists led Lyon for a year. In response, Lyon later became a Catholic stronghold until the Revolution.
